For her latest song, “Tap In,” Saweetie has sampled a Bay Area classic, as the Cali rapper flips the 2006 track “Blow the Whistle” from Too Short.

The single is taken from her upcoming Pretty Bitch Music album, which is scheduled to go down later this year sometime. Speaking about “Tap In” with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Saweetie revealed she had the blessing of Too Short on the sample. “I was like, ‘What if he doesn’t like it?’ But then he just liked it, so I’m excited,” she said. “I’m so happy that he loves it. I’m so excited about this record. I’ve been away for a year, but I really had to focus on my development as an artist because that was something I struggled with.”

She’s getting ready for the release of Pretty Bitch Music after taking some time to master her craft a little more. She added that the title “bitch” represents an acronym; boss, independent, tough, chief executive and hyphy. The inspiration came from 2Pac and she explained, “what he has done with Thug Life.

She said she has another new song on the way called “Saweetie ‘s Workout Plan,” while teasing the record, which follows her 2019 EP Icy, and she also has a feature on the album that is very special to her. “Someone who’s still relevant today, but didn’t record in a long time,” she teased, prompting Lowe to guess D’Angelo.”No, I would love that though because he got that voice, but it’s not him,” she replied.
